SUNYAC Softball Championship Day 3 Recap

Cortland N.Y. - During Day 3 of The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Softball Tournament, Oswego was eliminated and a series matchup between the one seed, Cortland and the two seed Geneseo, is tied up.

Game 9: Cortland vs. Oswego

In an elimination matchup for both Cortland and Oswego, Cortland dominated throughout the entire game. The Red Dragons defeated the Lakers with the final score of 7-0. Kelly O'Gorman helped Cortland escape elimination with three hits, two RBI and two runs. Hannah Feldman also had two RBI and a home run. Pitching for Cortland for the elimination game was Sam Van Dorn striking out five and giving up only two hits. 

Game 10: Cortland vs. Geneseo

The Cortland Red Dragons live to see another day as the tie up their series matchup against the Geneseo Knights. In the top inning of the fifth Cortland was able to bring six runners home to gain a 6-0 lead against Geneseo. In an attempt to end the tournament after Cortland scored another run at the top of the seventh the Geneseo Knights were able to rally in three runs in the seventh, falling short of the win. In this important match Cortland had Cady Walts on the mound. Walts was able to get seven strike outs allowing six hits and three runs.    

Whats Next

With Cortland and Geneseo having one loss each, Sunday, May 4 at 12 p.m. is set to be the SUNYAC Softball Tournament Final. With Cortland being the number one seed, the Red Dragons will host the championship game.
