Geneseo Women's Track and Field Shines at NCAA Championship Meet

VIRGINIA BEACH, V.A. - The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team earned five All-American honors at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet this weekend in Virginia Beach. The Knights picked up seven points en route to a 31st overall finish.

On Saturday, Ally Alvira highlighted the competition for the Knights competing in the triple jump. Alvira placed sixth overall to earn First-Team All-American honors with a distance of 12.00m.

On Friday,  Penelope Greene highlighted the day for Geneseo in the 5000m, finishing fifth overall with a time of 16:53.17. Greene's time was a personal best and by finishing in the top-eight, earned First-Team All-American honors. Also running in the 5000m was Rachel Hirschkind, who took 12th overall at 17:05.05 to earn Second-Team All-American recognition.

Joining Hirschkind as Second-Team All-Americans, was Janelle Eckl and Jillian Ambler in the Pentathlon. Eckl notched a personal best score in the event, scoring 3395 for ninth place overall. Ambler came in at 14th place with a score of 3219.

The SUNY Geneseo women's track and field team traveled to Virginia Beach to compete in the two day NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships.
