2024 SUNYAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Annual Awards Announced

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC announces its 2024 Women's Indoor Track and Field Track Athlete of the Year, Field Athlete of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Coaching Staff of the Year awards as voted on by the conference coaches.

Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year – Natalia Sawyer, Buffalo State
Sawyer repeats as the SUNYAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. In 2024, she was the national champion in the 60-meter hurdles and the national runner-up in the 400-meter run. Both times rank in the top seven in Division III history. Sawyer scored 18 team points for the Bengals' 10th place finish at the NCAA championships. She broke school and conference records in both events: 60-meter hurdles (8.47), 400-meter run (54.87). Sawyer was the top point scorer at the SUNYAC championships with 30 points and was named the Most Valuable Performer. She was also honored with the SUNYAC Most Outstanding Performance Award. Sawyer won titles at every championship this season- Conference, Regional, and National.

Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year – Danielle Fisk, Cortland
Fisk tied for seventh place in the high jump at the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships to earn All-American honors. She was also an All-American with an eighth place finish nationally in the pentathlon. Fisk was All-Region in the high jump and pentathlon. Fisk was the SUNYAC women's high jump champion this season and finished third in the pentathlon. She ranks No. 2 all-time for Cortland in the high jump.

Women's Indoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year – Jill Ambler, Geneseo
In her first season with the Knights, Ambler finished second in the pentathlon at the SUNYAC championship meet. She went on to the NCAA Division III championship meet and finished 14th in the pentathlon. Ambler also competes in the long jump and the 60-meter hurdles. 

Women's Indoor Track & Field Coaching Staff of the Year – Geneseo
The Geneseo women's track and field coaching staff is led by head coach Chris Popovici, and he is assisted by Dan Moore, Kyle Rollins, Ashton Fischer, Christian Johnson, Kieran Sheridan, Dan Reynolds and Gwen Shepardson. This season, the Knights won their seventh-straight and 14th overall SUNYAC title. At the Division III NCAA championship meet there were two athletes that finished in the top-eight to earn first-team All-American honors and three who were second-team All-American. The team finished 31st overall. This is the third-straight year Geneseo has been voted the SUNYAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Coaching Staff of the Year.
