New Paltz Facts

The State University of New York at New Paltz sponsors 15 varsity athletic teams (nine women's and six men's), including 14 that compete in the SUNYAC. In its history, New Paltz has won 30 conference championships, including 17 that have been awarded by the SUNYAC, and the Hawks have had two individual national champions in the sport of swimming & diving. In addition, New Paltz has reached the national semifinals twice in men's volleyball and won one regional championship in women's volleyball. Two Hawk coaches have been named National Coaches of the Year, and 17 different New Paltz coaches have combined for 32 SUNYAC Coach of the Year awards.
