Last winter, Moran was diagnosed with a rare disease called Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a condition in which the immune system attacks the nerves that can leave the body completely paralyzed. She had to re-learn how to use basic motor functions. Doctors thought she would be walking again with assistance in six months.
