Chen Named SUNYAC Tennis Coach of the Year

There is a bad luck superstition that things happen in threes, but for the 2013 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Tennis Coach of the Year, Geneseo's Dr. James Chen, this saying is the complete opposite after reclaiming this title for the third consecutive year.

Dr. Chen led the Knights to their third straight SUNYAC crown with an 11-1 overall record. After clinching the championship title, Geneseo earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III championship tournament in the spring.

The now four-time titleholder is well acquainted with post-season play by commanding teams with top three finishes in all twelve seasons as Geneseo's head coach.  His impressive overall record of 123-30 garnered him five SUNYAC titles (2008, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013). The Knights have taken the crown a total of seven times.

The SUNYAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year is an award voted on by all SUNYAC women's tennis coaches. Chen is the second Knights Coach to earn the honor as former head coach Paul Duffy was twice recognized (1998 and 2001).
