| Penfield, N.Y. / Fairport Sanger came up in multiple big spots for the Knights in Saturday's SUNYAC Tournament semifinal decision that saw Geneseo advance in a PK shootout, 5-4. Midway through the second half with the wind at Cortland's back, Sanger was just able to get a finger on a rising Cortland shot headed toward the upper right corner of the goal, that instead deflected off the cross bar, as the match would eventually be decided in a penalty kick shootout. During the PK shootout, Sanger again made a diving save on Cortland's fifth attempt that would have clinched the win. After Geneseo converted its next opportunity, Sanger smothered the ensuing Red Dragon shot as sixth-seeded Knights advanced with the upset. |
