
Elston and Orehosky Secure SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – SUNYAC names Oswego's Garrett Elston and Plattsburgh's Cole Orehosky its Men's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week.
Elston powered the Lakers to a perfect 2-0 week in SUNYAC action with standout efforts in wins over Oneonta and Morrisville. In a tight midweek matchup with Oneonta, Elston scored once and assisted on the game-winning goal to Corey O'Connor with under a minute left, sealing a crucial conference victory. The sophomore midfielder followed that clutch performance with a breakout game against Morrisville, recording 5 goals and 1 assist to lead Oswego's offense. He also added 3 ground balls on the week, as the Lakers stay unbeaten in SUNYAC play.
Orehosky anchored the defense for Plattsburgh, turning in one of the best goaltending performances of the season in a 19-6 win over Canton. In that game, he stopped 12 shots and allowed only one goal over 39 minutes, posting a 92.3 save percentage. He followed with another showing against New Paltz, recording 11 saves in a close 10-9 loss. The sophomore finished the week with 23 total saves, a 67.6 save percentage, and a 6.64 goals against average.
