GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo men's soccer senior Brad Campion was named College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Third-Team Academic All-America®, announced Friday. The annual award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their performances on the playing field and in the classroom.

A two-time State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) First-Team honoree and a 2014 NCAA Division III All-East Region Third-Team selection, Campion started at back in all 19 games for the Knights this year. A 2015 co-captain, he anchored a backfield that ranked second in the SUNYAC with eight shutouts and fifth with a 0.90 goals against average.

A history and adolescence education dual major with a 3.77 cumulative GPA, Campion finished the season with three goals, including the team's lone tally in a 1-1 draw at then No.13 St. Lawrence (Sept. 12). Campion, who plays a large role in the Knights' set pieces, also scored in the squad's 3-0 win against Fredonia (Sept. 25) and in a 3-0 shutout opposite St. John Fisher (Oct. 28).

Campion is the current president of Geneseo's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a member of the SUNYAC Commissioner's List and All-Academic Team. A Dean's List honoree, Campion is actively involved in Geneseo's History Club, Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society and the Elementary and Secondary Education Association (ESEA). An appointed member of the Undergraduate Student Association Elections Committee (USAEC), Campion was also a teaching fellow with Rochester Prep this past summer.

Geneseo finished the 2015 campaign with a 10-6-3 record, including a 4-5 conference mark that left them just one-point shy of qualifying for the postseason tournament.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average in at least their sophomore season and be a starter or a key reserve. The first-team all-district honorees from all eight districts in the nation moved on to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
