New Paltz Tops 2025 SUNYAC Softball Preseason Poll

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - New Paltz takes the top spot in the 2025 SUNYAC softball preseason poll while Cortland is ranked No. 2 and Oneonta No. 3. The poll is voted on by the 10 league coaches.

New Paltz finished the 2024 regular season No. 1 earning the right to host the SUNYAC tournament for the second straight year and second time overall in program history. The Hawks went on to win their first-ever SUNYAC softball championship title. New Paltz advanced to the NCAA tournament and went 1-2 to end the historic season 36-8 overall.

Cortland was the No. 2 seed after regular season play last season. The Red Dragons won the league championship title last in 2019 and total 16 softball conference trophies overall. Cortland finished the 2024 season 29-9 overall.

Oneonta was seeded fourth going into post season in 2024. The Red Dragons went 1-2 in the double elimination tournament ending their season 22-17 overall. Oneonta will compete to win its fifth overall SUNYAC softball title and first since 2014.

Conference competition will begin April 4 and the 2025 SUNYAC softball championship is set for May 8-11.
