Cortland wins 2016 SUNYAC women's lacrosse title

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Cortland won the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's lacrosse championship defeating Brockport, 16-11, Saturday in Cortland. With the win the Red Dragons earned an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

This is the nineteenth overall SUNYAC title for Cortland and second under current head coach Kelly Lickert-Orr. The Red Dragons will return to the NCAA tournament after winning the national title in 2015.

Kristen Ohberg and Carley Stone led Cortland with four goals each while the tournament MVP Jaclyn Beshlian had 11 saves in the net for the Red Dragons. Jessica Boddery and Kelly Wall had three goals each for Brockport and Sara Shaddock had five saves.
