Geneseo Women's Soccer falls in Third Round of NCAA Tournament

WILLIAMS, MA- The Geneseo Knights saw their playoff run end in the Third Round as they fell to Johns Hopkins, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon.

The first half saw Johns Hopkins control the pace of play and possession.  In the tenth minute, the Blue Jays were the first to strike, as Riley O'Toole found the back of the net off of a pass from Bailey Monaco.

Throughout the remainder of the half, Geneseo did have a couple of opportunities to score as Ellie Gregory and Leah Greene both had shots on goal but were unable to connect.

In the second half, Johns Hopkins continued to methodically control play.  Then, in the fifty-eighth minute, the Blue Jays struck again.  Riley O'Toole ripped an unassisted goal to extend Johns Hopkins's lead to 2-0.

For the remainder of the game, Geneseo could not convert their offensive opportunities and only managed one shot on goal in the second half.

Geneseo's Emily Janiszewski finished the game with seven saves on nine shots while her counterpart, Bess Kitzmiller, collected three saves.

The Knights finished the 2017 season with an 18-2-2 record after their playoff run.  Johns Hopkins will move on to face Williams, who won 4-0 in their Third Round matchup against Cal Lutheran, on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
