Cortland wins 2015 SUNYAC baseball title

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Cortland won its fifth consecutive and 33rd overall State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) baseball title Sunday. With the conference championship win, the Red Dragons earned an automatic bid into the 2015 NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament.

Second seeded Oswego did not make it easy for Cortland as the Lakers beat the Red Dragons, 3-1, in the first game of the day. Since Cortland was undefeated in the double elimination tournament, Oswego had to beat Cortland twice to win the title. The Red Dragons turned around and beat Oswego,10-3, in the second game to clinch the title.

Second baseman Mark DeMilio went 4-for-5 with two RBI in the championshipo game for the Red Dragons and Alex Weingarten earned the win on the mound striking out three.

Oswego's right fielder, John Rauseo hit 4-for-4 in the final game and was honored on the All-Tournament team for his outstanding play this weekend.
