Blondo Takes SUNYAC Men's Basketball Weekly Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - New Paltz's Rylan Blondo has been selected as the SUNYAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.

Blondo had a historic week as he joined elite company in surpassing the 1,000 career point threshold for his Hawks career this past weekend. He started his week posting team-high's in points (13), rebounds (6), assists (5) and steals (2) in just 21 minutes in a 104-58 rout of John Jay Tuesday. He then shot an efficient 8-for-15 breaking the 1,000-career point threshold after recording a game- and season-high 26 points to go along with a team-high seven rebounds and six assists with two steals to lead his team to an 89-77 win over visiting Misericordia. Blondo then came up clutch in a 76-71 overtime win over Hunter Saturday where he posted his fourth double-double of the season, finishing with a team-high 17 points and 11 rebounds on 7-for-16 shooting with four assists, two blocks and a steal along with a key basket in overtime to help the Hawks to a three-point cushion before making free throws to ice the overtime win in the final seconds.
