2023 SUNYAC Men's Cross Country Top Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC announces its 2023 men's cross country annual awards as voted on by the conference coaches. Cortland's Hunter Brignall is the Runner of the Year while Geneseo's Emerson Comer is the Rookie of the Year. Geneseo was voted Coaching Staff of the Year.

Runner of the Year - Hunter Brignall, Cortland
Brignall crossed the finish line fourth at the 2023 SUNYAC championship meet helping his team to a third place finish overall. He also placed fourth at the Niagara Region championship. Brignall was named the SUNYAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, October 17, after he earned the individual title in a field of 278 runners at the Rowan University Border Battle. He ran a new Cortland record for the course and defeated the runner-up by almost 12 seconds. Brignall advanced as the lone competitor for Cortland at the 2023 NCAA Division III championship.

Rookie of the Year - Emerson Comer, Geneseo
Comer was the top rookie at the 2023 SUNYAC championship meet finishing in 14th place. He completed the 8k course in 26:08.3 helping his team to a first place finish overall.

Coaching Stafff of the Year - Geneseo
Head coach Dan Moore and assistant coaches Chris Popovici and Ashton Fischer led the Knights to their ninth-straight SUNYAC title with nine athletes finishing in the top 15 at the championship meet. The team finished first at the regionals and 32nd overall at the NCAA Division III championship.
