Buffalo State Names Stone Head Swimming & Diving Coach

BUFFALO, NY—Buffalo State has named former interim head coach at Williams College Nick Stone as its next head men's and women's swimming and diving coach.
 
Stone joins the Bengals staff after spending the past three seasons at Williams, where he was the interim head coach this past fall.  During his tenure at Williams, the Ephs boasted 26 national qualifiers.  The men's team captured the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship in all three seasons and finished as high as third at the NCAA meet this past March.  On the women's side, Williams won consecutive NESCAC titles and also placed third nationally this past season.  Stone also served as the aquatics director at Williams and was the head coach of the Purple Valley Aquatics Swim Club.
 
Prior to his time at Williams, he served as the men's assistant coach at Ithaca College where he was also adjunct faculty member.  Stone also coached two summers at the University of Tennessee Swim Camp.
 
Stone has a master's degree in sport psychology from Ithaca and a bachelor's in psychology from Hope College, where he was a four-year swimmer and NCAA qualifier in the 200 free and 800 free relay.
 
Stone will officially take over the Bengals' swimming and diving programs as well as fulfill the role of aquatics manager for the recently renovated Kissinger Pool effective June 1, 2015.
