PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Geneseo captures the 2016 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) ice hockey title with a 7-1 win over Plattsburgh, Saturday night. As the league champions, the Knights (18-6-4) earned an automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Division III Tournament.
This is the Knights fourth SUNYAC ice hockey crown, the first since 2006 and the first under current head coach, the 2016 SUNYAC Coach of the Year, Chris Schultz.
Senior defenseman Matt Solomon and first-year forward Arthur Gordon each scored two goals for the Knights while first-year goalie Devin McDonald had 42 saves.
