Men's Lacrosse Annual Conference Honors Released

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has announced the 2014 Men's Lacrosse all-conference teams as well as the coach, player and rookie of the year awards as voted on by the conference coaches. The Player of the Year was given to Ryan Duffy, of SUNY Potsdam, the Rookie of the Year was awarded to Nate Beresevoy, of SUNY Cortland and the Paul Rose Coach of the Year selection was Richard Berkman of SUNY Potsdam.

Ryan Duffy has been named the 2014 Men's Lacrosse SUNYAC Player of the Year. The Potsdam goalie led the SUNYAC in saves per game (13.19) and save percentage (.659), while leading Potsdam to a 4-2 conference record, 10-6 overall, and the #2 seed in the SUNYAC Conference Championships. Duffy won SUNYAC Goalie of the Week honors five times throughout the 2014 regular season. Duffy attended Liverpool High school, in Liverpool, New York.
 
Nate Beresevoy, Cortland, has won the 2014 Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Year Award. Beresevoy helped Cortland to a 15-3 overall record. Cortland won the 2014 SUNYAC Championship, the school's seventh consecutive conference title. The freshman midfielder has played in every Cortland game this season, notching 11 goals and 10 assists, which is 1.16 points per game. Beresevoy attended LaFayette High School in LaFayette, New York.
 
Richard Berkman has been selected as the 2014 SUNYAC Paul Rose Coach of the Year by his peers. Berkman, in his 20th season as Potsdam's Head Coach, led his 2014 Potsdam edition to a 4-2 SUNYAC record, 10-6 overall. Potsdam has three First-Team All-conference players this year under Berkman, including Player of the Year, goalie, Ryan Duffy, along with two Second-Team All-conference, and one Honorable Mention.This is the third time Berkman has been given this honor, previously winning the award in 2007 and 2011.

During his playing days, Berkman was a First-Team All-American in 1991 for Salisbury State (Md), where he led the school to a National Championship appearance. Berkman is assisted by his staff, Rashaun Durden, Todd Kaiser, and Nick Peryea. Coach Berkman is also a Physical Education instructor at SUNY Potsdam, and his wife Jessica reside in Potsdam, NY, with their children, Tyler and Parker.
