Cortland clinches 2016 SUNYAC men's lacrosse title

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Cortland takes the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's lacrosse championship crown defeating Brockport, 7-6, Saturday in Cortland. With the win the Red Dragons earned an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament.

Cortland's Cory Becker scored with two seconds remaining in regulation to clinch their ninth consecutive SUNYAC title and 24th overall. Becker led Cortland with two goals. Goalie Joe Scalise made eight saves for the Red Dragons. Pat Baldwin, the tournament MVP, won 14-of-16 faceoffs and collected 13 ground balls.

Jake Giudice and Marcus Palvino had two goals each for Brockport while Conor Nowak had 10 saves in goal.
