Pjetri, Domino and King Honored by ECAC

Junior setter Marissa King (Canandaigua, N.Y.), junior goalkeeper Antonija Pjetri (Suffern, N.Y.) and sophomore goalkeeper Steven Domino (Valatie, N.Y.) of the State University of New York at New Paltz were honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) NCAA Division III Metro/Upstate in their respective sports for the week ending Oct. 27, 2012.

King, named the ECAC Volleyball Player of the Week, averaged 11.76 assists per set, leading the Hawks to a 5-0 week and the Skidmore Tournament title. For her efforts at the Skidmore Tournament, she was named the Tournament MVP. Against Vassar College on Wednesday, she set the single-season program record in assists, dishing out 51 helpers in the Hawks' five-set victory over the Brewers. She then handed out 25 assists in New Paltz's 3-0 victory over Southern Vermont College on Friday at the Skidmore Tournament. Later that night, New Paltz downed Baruch College, 3-0, behind her 42 assists and eight digs. Against Union (N.Y.) College on Saturday, she had 40 assists and 18 digs in New Paltz's 3-0 win before collecting 42 assists and nine digs versus host Skidmore College. The Hawks downed the Thoroughbreds, 3-0, to win the tournament title.

Pjetri, the ECAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, posted her seventh and eighth shutouts of the season, leading the Hawks to a 2-0 week. She made a career-high 18 saves against Wilkes University on Friday, propelling New Paltz to a 1-0 overtime win. On Saturday, Pjetri made six stops, as the Hawks triumphed, 3-0, over Kean University. For the week, she had a perfect 1.000 save percentage and a 0.00 goals-against average in 152:12 to go along with 24 saves. Pjetri owns an .884 save percentage and a 0.84 goals-against average for the season. She leads the SUNYAC in both statistical categories, and she also ranks second in saves with 107.

Domino was named the ECAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.  Domino made a season-high nine saves en route to shutting out The College at Brockport in the quarterfinal round of the SUNYAC Men's Soccer Championship Tournament on Saturday. His fourth shutout of the season advanced the Hawks past the quarterfinal round of the tournament for the first time since 2004.
