Geneseo and New Paltz tie for No. 1 in SUNYAC Softball Preseason Poll

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Geneseo and New Paltz tie for the No. 1 spot in the 2024 SUNYAC softball preaseason poll while Cortland was voted No. 3.

The Knights won their third-straight and fifth overall SUNYAC softball team title last season after beating Buffalo State, 1-0, in the championship game. Geneseo earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament and finished the season 25-16-1 overall.

New Paltz finished the regular season No. 1 earning the right to host the SUNYAC tournament for the first time in program history. The Hawks went 2-2 in the double elimination conference championship. New Paltz ended the 2023 season with a 31-13 overall record.

Cortland was the No. 2 seed after regular season play last season. The Red Dragons last won the league championship title in 2019 and won 16 softball conference trophies overall. Cortland finished the 2023 season 24-13 overall.

The regular season conference softball games will start April 5 and the 2024 SUNYAC softball championship is set for May 9-12.
