Oneonta and Buffalo State Ranked in NCAA East Region

 

The SUNY Oneonta and Buffalo State  women's basketball teams found themselves in the No. 5 and No. 6 spot, respectively in the East Region in the most recent NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Regional rankings of the season that were released Wednesday Feb. 15. 
 
The Red Dragons, who have an overall record of 16-7 and a league record of 14-3 have one game remaining in the regular season. Oneonta will host New Paltz Friday Feb. 17. The two teams are tied for second in the conference standings, as the Red Dragons held on for a 61-57 win earlier in the season. Oneonta ranks second in the SUNYAC in scoring defense, limiting opponents to 53.6 points per game and leads all teams with a 72.1 free throw percentage.
 
Buffalo State is 21-2 overall and has won 17 of its last 18 games, including nine straight.  The Bengals are averaging 67.7 points-per-game, good for second in the SUNYAC, and boast the league's top defense, surrendering just 52.0 points-per-contest. Buffalo State sits atop the league standings and controls its own destiny to claim the No. 1 seed in the SUNYAC with road games at Oswego and Cortland remaining this Friday and Saturday respectively.

The next regional rankings will be released on Wednesday, Feb. 22.
