New Paltz Women's Basketball Draws Rowan in NCAA Tournament First Round

INDIANAPOLIS – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's basketball team, which earned the automatic bid from the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC), will face host Rowan University, an at-large qualifier out of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), in Glassboro, N.J., in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Friday, March 4, as announcedMonday afternoon by the NCAA.
 
Tip-off between the Hawks and Profs is set for 7 p.m. Tickets for the NCAA Tournament are $6 for adults and $3 for students, children and senior citizens.
 
Rowan will also host a first-round game between No. 5 Amherst College (26-1) and Eastern Connecticut State University (22-6) on Friday, March 4, at 4:30 p.m.
 
New Paltz (21-6) is making its second appearance at the national playoff. The Hawks won their second SUNYAC title in program history this season, as they defeated SUNY Geneseo, 65-52, in the SUNYAC championship game on Saturday, Feb. 27. New Paltz's last SUNYAC championship and NCAA appearance came in 2013.
 
Rowan (22-5) is 11-11 all-time at the NCAA Tournament, qualifying for the 10th time in program history and for the first time since 2000. The Profs earned an at-large bid after falling to Montclair State University, 68-62, in the NJAC championship game on Friday, Feb. 26.
 
The winner of the New Paltz-Rowan first-round game will play the winner of the Amherst-Eastern Connecticut State game on Saturday, March 5.
