SUNYAC Athletes Awarded ECAC Player of The Week

The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced their player of the week awards for all spring sports and on it is two State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) athletes. SUNY Oneonta Red Dragon Steve Asher makes his second straight appearance for Division III Upstate Co-Pitcher of the Week. For women's lacrosse it was Devan Olschewske of the Potsdam Bears who won the Defensive Player of the Week award playing outstanding in her first ever collegiate game.

Steve Ascher – SUNY Oneonta
Junior, Cutchogue, NY

In his only outing of the week, Ascher continued his dominance by throwing his second consecutive shutout against #3 Kean University this past Saturday. Ascher threw nine innings and allowed only four hits while striking out seven batters. With the shutout, Ascher has recorded 17 straight scoreless innings while lowering his ERA to 2.36.

Devan Olschewske – Potsdam State
Freshman, Goalkeeper, Canandaigua, N.Y.

Making her collegiate debut with a start in goal against SUNY Canton, Olschewske made 20 saves to help Potsdam to a 10-8 victory. The 20 stops are the most by a Bear goalie in three years.
