Women's Soccer has Nine Players Earn All-Region Honors

 

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released its list of Div. III All-Region selections today and SUNYAC had nine women's players selected to the All-East Team. The group is led by Oneonta senior defender Erin Boyle (West Babylon, NY/Babylon) and Plattsburgh junior midfielder Lindsay Keyser (Keeseville, NY/Ausable Valley), who were both selected to the first team and will be eligible for NSCAA All-America consideration. Four players garnered second team honors and three players were tabbed third team.
 
Boyle, who earned first team All-SUNYAC honors this fall, is earning her first All-Region team selection. She started all 22 games that she played in as a defender and contributed one assist off her throw-in. Oneonta completed a 17-5-2 season in 2010 including a 7-1-1 mark in the SUNYAC, which tied them for first place. The Red Dragons won the SUNYAC Tournament title and made its 12th consecutive NCAA appearance. They advanced to the sectional round of NCAA's before falling to William Smith, 2-1 in the round of 16.
 
The Cardinals finished 15-4-1 overall and 7-1-1 in conference play, reaching the SUNYAC Championship game where they eventually fell to Oneonta, 2-1. Keyser, registered 17 points on seven goals and three assists this season. With three goals and two assists coming in conference play, Keyser earned first team all-conference accolades.
 
Oneonta's DeSimone sisters, Dana and Karly (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa), were both selected to the second team. They are both making their first appearances on the All-Region list. Junior, Dana, earned first team All-SUNYAC honors this fall while finishing the season leading the team in goals and points with 13 and 27 respectively with four game winning goals. Freshman, Karly, earned Rookie of the Year in the SUNYAC as well as first team honors this fall for her performance. She finished the season with six goals with two of those being game winners.
 
Cortland's Bridgette DeSantis (Rotterdam, NY/Mohonasen) led the Red Dragons in scoring for the second straight season. She scored nine goals, including seven game-winning tallies, for 18 points in 19 games. She scored the lone goal in a win versus Geneseo in the SUNYAC quarterfinals as well as in a regular-season victory at nationally ranked Ithaca.
 
Senior defender Ashley Keogh (Massapequa Park, NY/Massapequa) led Geneseo to a 12-6-0 record and a fifth place mark of 5-4-0 in SUNYAC. Keogh handed out three assists and paced a defense that allowed only 14 goals in 18 games.
 
Senior Nha Wright (Schenectady, NY/ Duanesburg) is making her first appearance on the All-Region team as a third team selection. This fall, she earned second team All-SUNYAC accolades for the second straight year. She led the team in assists with six and was second in goals (9) and points (24). She had five game winning goals this season, which also led the team.
 
A senior forward, Liz Radigan (Troy, NY/Troy) earned third team honors after finishing second on the Plattsburgh team with eight goals and three assists for 19 points. She earned her third all-SUNYAC honor in 2010 with second-team accolades.
 
Erin Norris (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendahowa) anchored a Cardinal defense that led the conference, allowing only 0.74 goals per game and posting 12 shutouts in 19 games. Norris received second-team all-conference and was also named to the 2010 SUNYAC All-Tournament team.
