Cortland Women's Soccer Clinches SUNYAC Title

Cortland takes the 2012 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women’s Soccer title with a win over Oneonta, 2-1, Saturday at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester.

The Cortland Red Dragons have been SUNYAC Women’s Soccer Champions seven times since 1983 with the last time being in 1991.

Cortland earns an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Red Dragons earned an at-large berth into last year’s NCAA playoffs after falling in the conference finals and advanced to the national quarterfinals.

Cortland’s junior Kelly Knight was named the SUNYAC women’s Soccer Tournament MVP after scoring the game winning goal with just over six minutes left in the championship game.
