SUNYAC Women's Soccer Postseason Awards Announced

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announces the 2012 Women's Soccer postseason awards. The College of Brockport's Joan Schockow has been named SUNYAC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year for the fifth time. Oneonta's Kayla Brantmeyer (Center Moriches, NY) has been named Player of the Year and her fellow Oneonta teammate, Krystal Scott (Centereach, NY) has been nominated Rookie of the Year as voted on by the conference coaches.

Schockow led her team with an overall record of 14-1-2 and 7-1-1 in conference play. This season's success furthers her dominance as the all-time winningest soccer coach (male or female) in Brockport history. Schockow had five of her players placed on the SUNYAC All-Conference Teams. This season the College at Brockport women's soccer team also achieved its first ever regular season SUNYAC title. Another accomplishment of Schockow's having her team on the National Soccer Coaches Associations of American (NSCAA) poll ranking No. 3 in the region and No. 18 in the nation.

Senior forward, Brantmeyer was previously nominated Rookie of the Year during the 2009 season. This year she proved her potential by ranking third in the conference for shots per game, averaging 3.74 a game. She had six goals this season, three of them being game winning goals, and four assists. Brantmeyer is a tri-captain for the Oneonta Red Dragons. She was named to the Mayor's Cup All-Tournament Team this season and was also a SUNYAC Athlete of the Week.

Defender Scott helped anchored a defense that went undefeated at home (9-0) allowing just 21 goals to finish the season with an overall record of 12-7-1. She started in all 20 games in her rookie season. Scott also passed her first collegiate assist in 2012.
