Senior Vanessa Gillette (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia) of the College at Brockport women's soccer team has been named the Disney Soccer/NSCAA Player of the Week for her on-field accomplishments at the Colonel Classic this past weekend.
The Disney Soccer/NSCAA expanded the program to include a men's and a women's winner from all three NCAA divisions starting with the 2013 season.
Gillette played a pivotal role in Brockport's opening weekend. Against Moravian College, she scored two goals and assisted on the other two, including the game-winner in overtimes. Her six points places her second on the team in offense.
On top of the National award, Gillette was also recognized as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's soccer offensive player of the week.
Gillette and the Golden Eagles return to action on Friday to take on St. John Fisher for the season home opener at 4:30 pm.
