Head coach Jim Chen posted the 100th win against just 28 losses in his 10 seasons as the mentor for the Geneseo women's tennis team as the Blue Knights defeated the host RIT Tigers by a score of 8-1 Tuesday afternoon. Geneseo opened the doubles portion with a trio of victories as seniors Monica Vieth and Julia Passik won at first doubles, 8-4, seniors Lauren Johnson and Reggie Connelly won at second doubles, 8-4, and first years Shiho and Kaho Sato took third doubles, 8-0. Geneseo dominated singles action as Passik won 6-1, 6-1 at number two, Shiho Sato won 6-0, 6-0 at third singles, first year Amanda Rosati took fourth singles, 6-1, 6-1, junior Sarah Shields took fifth singles, 6-2, 6-0 and junior Katie Talbot posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at sixth singles. First year Dexuan Yuan dropped a tough 7-6 (5), 6-2 score at first singles. Geneseo moves to 8-1 on the season and next travels to Manlius Tennis Club in Syracuse for the SUNYAC Championships, which run Friday through Sunday.
