
Cortland Wins 2025 SUNYAC Men's Basketball Championship Crown
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - No. 3 Cortland beat top-seeded New Paltz, 61-52, to win the 2025 SUNYAC men's basketball championship Saturday at New Paltz. This is the Red Dragons seventh overall conference crown and first since 2016. With the win Cortland earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
Kendall Arcuri was named the Tournament MVP after totaling 51 points, 22 rebounds and six assists in the three tournament games for the Red Dragons.
Elite 20
An award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.
On Friday night, the SUNYAC recognized Plattsburgh's Aidan McGuire as this year's Men's Basketball Elite 20 winner. McGuire is sophomore global supply chain management major with a 3.74 cumulative GPA.
