Oswego, Plattsburgh pick up victories, advance to SUNYAC Championship

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.- The SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Championship is now set, as Oswego and Plattsburgh win their respective games in the semifinal round.  The Lakers and the Cardinals will face off for the title in Oswego on March 4 at 7:00 p.m.

Plattsburgh State was able to defeat Geneseo 5-2, on the strength of four goals in the third period, at Ronald B. Stafford Arena in Plattsburgh, NY.  Pat Egan found the net twice and had one assist for the Cardinals, while Kyle Hall, Ross Sloan, and Joe Drabin added a goal apiece.  Conlan Keenan netted both of the Knights' goals in the losing effort.

The other semifinal game saw Oswego overcome Buffalo State 6-2.  The top-seeded Lakers proved they were worthy of the top ranking by registering six scores from five different players.  Shaun Hulshof was the top point-getter with three (two goals, one assist).  Jonathan Colley and Zach Nieminen had one goal each for the Bengals.

Heading into the Championship, the Cardinals will be looking to garner their first title since 2015 and league-leading twenty-third overall. Oswego looks to win their first title since repeating in 2013 and 2014.
