SUNYAC announces Ice Hockey Coach of the Year

SUNYAC announces Ice Hockey Coach of the Year

CORTLAND, NY - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) is proud to announce the 2016-17 Ice Hockey Coach of the Year as voted on by the conference coaches. This years award winner is Plattsburgh's Head Coach, Bob Emery. This marks the sixth time that he has won this honor.

In Coach Emery's 28th season he led the Cardinals to a 17-9-1 overall going into the NCAA Tournament. After a slow start in conference play (2-4), the Cardinals went on a streak to finish off the conference season with a record of 10-5-1, which was good enough for the two seed and a first round bye going into the conference tournament. In the conference tournament they defeated top-seeded Oswego to claim their 23rd overall SUNYAC title.

Coach Emery will be heading to his 18th NCAA Tournament appearance as they compete against Trinity (Conn.) College Saturday. He looks to lead the Cardinals on a quest to his third national championship.
