Plattsburgh Men's Soccer Draws Wheaton in NCAA Tournament First Round

INDIANAPOLIS - The Wheaton Lyons serve as the next assignment for the Plattsburgh State men's soccer team as the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Committee announced the 61-team field for the 2013 NCAA Div. III Men's Soccer Tournament Monday afternoon.
 
This year's tournament gets underway Thursday with first round games and concludes with the national championship game on Dec. 7 in San Antonio, Texas.
 
St. Lawrence University will serve as the host of the first and second round games on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The Cardinals will take on Wheaton in one first round matchup while the Saints will host Thomas (Me.) in the other first round contest. The winners will advance to the second round to be played on Sunday. Game times and ticket information will follow in an official announcement from St. Lawrence.
 
The Cardinals (15-5-1) received an automatic berth into the tournament after winning their eighth conference title over the weekend with a 2-1 win at Cortland. Plattsburgh State will be making its 11th NCAA Tournament appearance and first since the 2010 season.
 
Wheaton College (16-5-0) earned its spot in the tournament after defeating MIT, 1-0, in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament. Saturday's game will be mark the first meeting between Wheaton and Plattsburgh State.
