CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Cortland softball team repeats as State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) champions after defeating Buffalo State, 12-4, Sunday in Cortland.
The Red Dragons went 4-0 in the SUNYAC championship tournament to win their 14th overall title. With the win Cortland earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
Alexandrea Flint led Cortland on the mound throughout the championship and was named the MVP of the tournament. Flint finished the tournament with a 3-0 record and did not allow a run in 13 and two thirds innings. She gave up eight hits and four walks and struck out five. Flint threw a four-hit shutout in a 1-0 win Saturday over Geneseo in the winner's bracket final.
