OVERALL RESULTS
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Geneseo men captured its 23rd State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) title with 977 team points, Saturday night at the Burt Flickinger Center at Erie Community College.
The top awards of the meet were announced Saturday night. Genseo's Andy Schunk was honored with the James Fulton award, given to a male senior for academic and athletic excellence. James Fulton was a long time Swimming Coach at the College at Brockport and was instrumental in developing the SUNYAC Swimming Program.
Buffalo State's Connor Mergler was named the Swimmer of the Meet with three record breaking SUNYAC crowns in the 50, 200 and 100 Freestyle races.
Fredonia's Arron Carlson won Diver of the Meet with a title in the 3-meter dive and a second place in the 1-meter he totaled the most points overall in the meet.
Geneseo coach, Paul Dotterweich was selected as the men's Coach of the Year while Geneseo's diving coach, Shawn Austin was named the Diving Coach of the Year. These awards are voted on by all conference coaches.
Genenseo's Kevin Schaub swam the 200 backstroke in 1:51.23, a new conference and meet record bettering the record set in 2013 by Oneonta's Alex Miller (1:51.62).
For the third time this week, Buffalo State's Connor Mergler broke records touching the wall in 44.74 in his preliminary race to top the 100 freestyle conference and meet record set in 2010 by Dan Evans (Cortland).
New Paltz's 400 freestyle relay team of Austin Kowalsky, Caleb Treadwell, Ethan Cooke and William Koenig broke the conference and meet record in a time of 3:05.14.
