The honor was announced on Wednesday, Sept. 24, by the SUNYAC from its conference offices in Cortland, N.Y., for matches contested Sept. 15-21.
The duo each posted 4-0 records during the week – 2-0 as a doubled tandem and 2-0 at their respective singles slots, leading the Dragons to a pair of road victories.
In a 7-2 win at Oswego on Sept. 18, Kumbul and Groves defeated Alicia Kreamer and Lauren Stall 8-3 at first doubles. Groves then swept Haley Miller 6-2, 6-2 at fourth singles, while Kumbul knocked off Kelsey Wilson 6-1, 6-0 at third singles.
In a 9-0 shutout of Alfred on Sept. 20, Kumbul and Groves earned an 8-6 second doubles win over Emily Eisenberg and Brenna Ferguson. Kumbul then went on to sweep Betsy Clark 6-4, 6-2 at fourth singles, while Groves bounced Kallie Clapper 6-1, 6-1 at fifth singles.
