This year Geneseo men and women look to defend their 2012 SUNYAC team titles. The men are looking to capture their fifth consecutive championship while the women will try for their third straight SUNYAC crown. The SUNY Cortland women broke Geneseo's 10-year winning streak in 2010 while the Cortland men broke Geneseo's seven-year streak in 2007 capturing the SUNYAC title two years in a row.
SUNY Cortland senior Emily Cotey returns to defend the SUNYAC individual title finishing in 23:24.72 last year. Also returning on the women's side are nine of the top 15 finishers with four from top seven spots who made up the First Team All-Conference. The College at Brockport's junior Rachel Malone finished 1.20 behind Cotey last year while Danielle Kennedy from Oneonta finished third and Geneseo's Cassie Goodman followed. Four-time SUNYAC Female Runner of the Week, Kelley Driscoll will also look to follow up on her 2012 sixth place finish. This season Plattsburgh's Driscoll shaved 23 seconds off her PR finishing the Connecticut College Invitational 6K course in 22:01.
Geneseo's Alex Brimstein, who graduated last year, won the 2012 men's race in a time of 26:25.08. Eight other top 15 finishers from last year's SUNYAC meet have graduated including Geneseo's Chris Mateer and Tom Clark who finished second and third. The fourth through seventh place finishers Cody Amenual (Cortland), Ryan Moynihan (Geneseo), Nick Marcantonio (Cortland) and Tim Lee (Cortland) will all return this year.
Geneseo junior Cohen Miles-Rath looks to top Brimstein's 2012 SUNYAC first-place finish after his first-place finish at the Geneseo Invitational covering the 8K course in 25:15.16. Cortland senior Pat Fannon, who was the SUNYAC runner of the week two times this season will be a competitor this year after winning the Oswego Invitational where he finished the 8K course in 25:49. Geneseo's freshman Matt Jorgensen will also be a threat after winning the Daniel Walker Invitational at Buffalo State in 25:55.
