Defensive Player: Women's Soccer


Linda Banfield – Buffalo State
Junior, Goalkeeper

Banfield backstopped the Bengals to the top of the SUNYAC standings with two more 1-0 shutouts over Oswego and Cortland on the road this weekend. She extended her shutout streak to 267 minutes, 50 seconds, including an eight-save performance in an overtime victory over Oswego. She also had five saves in the win over Cortland and had did not allow a goal against St. John Fisher on Tuesday before leaving with an injury. All seven of her shutouts this season have resulted in 1-0 victories for the Bengals. She leads the SUNYAC with both a 0.41 goals against average and a .896 save percentage.


Runner: Men's Cross Country

 

 Nick Marcantonio – SUNY Cortland
 Junior, Glens Falls, NY

Marcantonio finished first in a field of 114 runners at the St. Lawrence University Hoffman Invitational. His winning time was 25:45.06 over 8,000 meters. Marcantonio led a Cortland sweep of the top five spots as the nationally 17th-ranked Red Dragons easily won the team title in a 10-school field.

Zef Saljanin – SUNY Oneonta

Zef Saljanin led Oneonta to a pair of SUNYAC wins this weekend including a dramatic come-from-behind victory against Plattsburgh in double overtime. Entering the game for the first time at the beginning of the second overtime period against Plattsburgh, Saljanin was able to get his head on the ball to push it to the back of the goal with three seconds left in OT to lift the Red Dragons to a win. On Saturday, he registered a goal and a assist in a 4-1 win against Potsdam.
