Marra and Ott Picked SUNYAC Men's Soccer Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Cortland teammates Mateo Marra and Jordan Ott are the SUNYAC Men's Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.

Marra had an excellent offensive week, scoring eight points on four goals, with a pair of game-winning goals, to lead nationally-13th ranked Cortland to a 3-0-0 record for the week. Marra's best game of the week came in a 4-0 victory over Penn State Behrend on Sunday, scoring his first hat trick as a Red Dragon, including the game-winning goal. He scored the opening goal of the game in the 42nd minute, then followed it up with goals in the 78th and 90th minutes to secure the victory. The graduate student midfielder also netted the game-winning goal in the 55th minute for Cortland in a 3-1 win over Catholic on Friday evening, helping the Red Dragons win despite playing down a man for the final 74 minutes of the contest.

Ott had a strong week in goal for Cortland, helping lead the nationally-13th ranked Red Dragons to a 3-0-0 week. The junior allowed just two goals over three contests for a 0.67 goals against average, and made 11 saves with a .846 save percentage and one shutout. Ott capped the week with a three-save shutout victory, as Cortland defeated Penn State Behrend 4--0. All three of Ott's saves came in the first half when the game was still scoreless. He also made four saves in a 3-1 win at Catholic, helping the Red Dragons win despite playing a man down for the final 74 minutes after a red card. Ott began the week with a four-save performance in a win over Utica, including making a pair of saves in the final minutes to preserve a one-goal advantage.
