SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Oneonta's Luigi Prosperi is the SUNYAC Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week while Cortland's Jordan Ott is the Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Prosperi netted two goals, including a game-winner, for four points and helped Oneonta go 2-0 in conference play this week. Prosperi recorded his game-winning goal in the second minute of play of Oneonta's 2-0 road win against New Paltz. On Saturday in the regular season finale against Fredonia, he scored the game-tying goal in the 80th minute and the Red Dragons went on to defeat the Blue Devils, 2-1 to clinch the No. 2 seed in the SUNYAC tournament.
Ott had a strong week for the nationally 20th-ranked Red Dragons, registering a 0.50 GAA, as well as an .875 save percentage with one shutout in a 1-0-1 week to close out the regular season. In a 1-1 tie against nationally 24th-ranked Buffalo State on Saturday, Ott turned aside six shots, including making multiple saves with the game tied. On Wednesday afternoon, Ott stopped one shot in goal in a shutout victory over Canton, coming off his line to deny a solid goal-scoring opportunity in the second half.
