2023 SUNYAC Women's Swimming & Diving Annual Awards Released

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC announces the 2023 Women's Swimming and Diving Swimmer, Diver and Rookie of the Year awards as nominated and voted on by the conference coaches. 

Women's Swimmer of the Year - Kim MacDonald, Geneseo
MacDonald won three events at the 2023 SUNYAC championship meet to earn All-Conference first team honors. She was also voted the Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet by the conference coaches. She finished the 500 yard freestyle in 4:59.32, the 200 freestyle in 1:53.58 and the 1650 freestyle in 17:17.14. MacDonald advanced to the NCAA Division III championship meet where she placed 15th in the 1650 freestyle race.

Women's Diver of the Year -Ashley Zachgo, Cortland
Zachgo was named the SUNYAC Diver of the Meet after she won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives at the conference championship. She was also named to the All-Conference first team. Zachgo qualified for the NCAA Division III swimming and diving championships after placing fourth in 1-meter diving at the NCAA Division III Region 4 (Northeast/South) Diving Regional in Ithaca. She went on and finished 21st in the 3-meter board and 24th in the 1-meter at the NCAA championship meet.

Women's Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Year - Hannah Brockman, Geneseo
Brockman was undefeated in the 1000 freestyle race during the dual meet season. At the SUNYAC championship meet she was the highest scoring first year on the women's side with 50 points. Brockman finished in second place in the 500 and 1650 yard freestyle races and she was third in the 200 freestyle. Her two second place finishes were behind her teammate and Swimmer of the Meet, MacDonald. Brockman was honored on the All-SUNYAC second team.
