SUNYAC Recognizes Hurwitz, Stanejko and van der Veen with Women's Tennis Weekly Honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – This week's SUNYAC Women's Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week is Plattsburgh's Hallie Hurwitz and the Doubles Team of the Week is New Paltz's Justine Stanejko and Isabel van der Veen.
Hurwitz enjoyed a 2-0 week in singles action for Plattsburgh, earning a win at No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles. Playing in the top slot against VTSU-Johnson, she won 6-1, 6-2 and moving back to her second slot against VTSU-Castleton, she won 6-1, 6-1.
The first doubles pair of Stanejko and van der Veen went 3-0 on the week. They earned a straight set victory over Bard on Friday and in their scramble tournament took wins over TCNJ, 6-3 and Union, 7-6 in a tie-breaker.
