AVCA Division III Coaches Top-25 Preseason Poll (2011)
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The State University of New York at Cortland and SUNY New Paltz women's volleyball teams each received votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Coaches Top-25 Preseason Poll for the 2011 season, as announced late Wednesday by the AVCA.
The Red Dragons received 10 votes (No. 31 overall), while the Hawks came in tied at No. 35 with three votes. Defending NCAA Division III national champion Calvin College of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) topped the preseason poll with 23 first-place votes (599 total).
Cortland finished the 2010 season with a 34-8 record for its highest win total since 2004. The Red Dragons won their 17th SUNYAC title and made their 22nd NCAA tournament showing. The Red Dragons advanced to the NCAA second round before losing a five-set match to Frostburg State (Md.).
