Berube and Wischoff Named Runners of the Week

Geneseo senior Lee Berube (Putnam Station, NY/Ticonderoga) and New Paltz junior Nicole Wischoff (Cooperstown, NY) both led their teams to third place finishes over the weekend to help them earn the SUNYAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.

Wischoff earns her second SUNYAC weekly honor as set a school record in the 5K at the Hamilton Invitational. She navigated the course in 18:48.8 to place second out of 141 runners. Her performance erased the former program mark of 19:05, set in 2009. This is her second school record in two weeks as she set the 6K mark on Sept 30. The Hawks placed third out of 11 teams at the Hamilton Invitational and return to action on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Connecticut College Invitational. Wischoff was previously recognized by the conference on the Sept. 12.

For the second straight week and third time this season, Berube has been selected as the SUNYAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week. Berube won the individual title with a time of 24:39 over eight kilometers at the Hoffman Pre-Regional Race at St. Lawrence Saturday afternoon as the nationally ranked #5 Geneseo men's cross country team placed third with 76 points behind champion Bates (53) and the second place hosts (75).
