CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announces the PrestoSports Men's Indoor Track and Field weekly awards. Geneseo's Ezra Ruggles (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) has been named the PrestoSports Track Athlete of the Week and Brockport's Tony DeYoung (Lancaster, N.Y.) has been named the PrestoSports Field Athlete of the Week.
Ruggles ran well at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Boston over the weekend. He anchored Geneseo's Distance Medley Relay, which posted the third-fastest time in NCAA Division III finishing in 9:57.49. In the mile, Ruggles timed out at 4:15.12, placing him 37th overall in the nation with the top time in the conference.
At the RIT February Invitational Tony DeYoung won both the shot put and the weight throw events. In the shot put he broke the indoor school and SUNYAC record with a distance of 17.69 meters. This mark also currently has him ranked first in the country for the shot put on the NCAA Division III Indoor National Qualifying list.
