New Paltz Sports Information Department
Emily Fox has starred on the State University of New York at New Paltz softball team since 2017 and helped the Hawks to its best season to-date in 2019, which resulted in a single season-most 26 wins and a postseason berth. Fox was named to Second-Team All-SUNYAC honors following the season, while also earning her way on the SUNYAC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll and was enshrined in the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor society this past fall.
Additionally, Fox served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee executive board as secretary and helped organize various community service initiatives during the year. She was elected the 2020-21 SUNYAC SAAC Vice President of Community Engagement.
Through her experiences as a Hawk, Fox talked about why there is only one SUNY New Paltz.
"SUNY New Paltz isn't just a college. It is a community that brings people together and creates a lifetime of memories. There are so many different colleges to choose from, but I think I speak for the majority when I say I am so grateful that my high school senior self decided to choose New Paltz. Being a student-athlete here I knew I would have great teammates, but that was just the beginning. I became a part of a family. We support each other, we are there to pick each other up when we struggle and are there to soak up the moments of success. We want the best for one another and that isn't just in terms of athletics. There is a sense of togetherness that is unmatched anywhere else. Even when our time at SUNY New Paltz comes to an end as student-athletes we will take with us the memories we made, the lessons we learned and the people we became while wearing blue and orange. It will forever be a great day to be a Hawk."
