SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC recognizes New Paltz's Miranda Britton and Cortland's Emma Morgan as its Offensive and Defensive Field Hockey Athletes of the Week respectively.
Britton repeats as the SUNYAC Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week after being the catalyst offensively for the Hawks two wins over Skidmore and Endicott to remain undefeated on the year. In a 3-0 win over Skidmore Wednesday, Britton led the team with two goals on just two shots. She then doubled down on that performance with two more goals and an assist in a 5-4 win over Endicott Saturday. Britton scored the opening goal and assisted on the game-winner that helped her team in the road win. She also tallied nine shots, eight of which were on goal.
Morgan had an excellent week in goal for the nationally-12th ranked Red Dragons, recording six saves and a .857 save percentage and a 0.50 goals against average in leading Cortland to a 2-0 week. In a 2-1 victory over No. 17 Ithaca on Wednesday evening, the junior came away with three saves, including a crucial save in the fourth quarter to preserve a one-goal advantage. She also made three saves for her second shutout of the season on Saturday afternoon in a 4-0 victory at Misericordia. Two of Morgan's three saves in the contest came in the first quarter to keep the game scoreless.
