SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Geneseo won its ninth straight and 29th overall SUNYAC men's swimming and diving championship, Saturday at the at the Burt Flickinger Aquatic Center at Erie Community College (ECC). Cortland placed second and New Paltz third.

1650 freestyle - Charlie  Wangelin, Geneseo, 15:58.76

200 backstroke - Griffin Merkling, Geneseo, 1:50.07

100 freestyle - Sam Matthews, Geneseo, 45.17

200 breaststroke - Zach Brown, Oswego, 2:03.17

200 butterfly - Ben Ludlow, Geneseo, 1:48.66

3 meter dive - Trent Makowiec, Geneseo, 604.30

400 freestyle relay - Mark CrockerJordan Nielsen, Sam Matthews and Jake Nielsen, Geneseo, 3:02.05

Record Breakers

Griffin Merkling broke the meet and conference record in the men's 200 backstroke that he set last year (1:50.28).

Brown broke the conference and meet records in the men's 200 yard breaststroke. The record was set by Adam Clouthier (Fredonia) in 2017 (2:04.06).

The Knights 400 freestyle relay team broke the conference and meet records set at 3:20.97 by Geneseo last year.

Makowiec broke the meet and conference records in the 3 meter dive set by Arron Carlson (Fredonia) in 2017 (594.40).

James Fulton Award - Jack Cimorelli, Geneseo

The James Fulton and Grace Mowatt Awards are given annually to a senior male and female swimmer/diver based on the following criteria: All America honors, All-SUNYAC honors, improvement throughout collegiate career and academic achievement. James Fulton coached at Brockport for 25 years, winning 78% of the team's dual meets and three of the first five SUNYAC Championships. Fulton coached nine All-American swimmers and saw three of this swimmers become coaches of Div. I programs.

Elite 20

The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. This year's awardee is Brockport's Logan Kime a Biology major and environmental science and ecology minor with a 4.00 GPA.
