SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Geneseo teammates Sam Matthews and Trent Makowiec have been named the SUNYAC Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week respectively.
Matthews had a record-setting meet against Nazareth on Sunday, being apart of three pool records. In the 400 Medley Relay Matthews anchored the Knights, which broke a pool record dating back to 1979 when Geneseo hosted the NCAA Division III Championship meet. Matthews and the Knights broke the record with a time of 3:28.62. Matthews then went on to set the pool record in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 51.96. He then anchored the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team which set a new pool record with a time of 3:09.76. He capped off his impressive performance with a first-place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 21.32.
Makowiec was named the SUNYAC Diver of the Week for the second week in a row after he posted NCAA Regional qualifying dives this weekend against Nazareth. He won both the one and three-meter dives with scores of 329.48 and 325.95, respectively.
