
Buffalo State Sweeps SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week Awards
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Buffalo State completed a sweep of this week's SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards, with Vanessa Willick bringing home Offensive Athlete of the Week, and Lauren Rinow winning Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Willick was impressive in a pair of SUNYAC wins over Morrisville and Potsdam last week. In the win over the Mustangs, Willick tallied eight goals, an assist, six ground balls, and eight draw controls. In the win over the Bears, Willick added eight more goals, three assists, three ground balls, 11 draw controls, and three caused turnovers. Willick helped the Bengals reach their best record in conference play since 2009.
Rinow was a staple for the Buffalo State defense this past week as they stayed unbeaten in conference play. In the win over the Mustangs, Rinow had six points with two goals and four assists while also adding five ground balls, five draw controls, and a season-high five caused turnovers. In Saturday's win over Potsdam, Rinow added five goals with six ground balls, three draw controls, and three more caused turnovers.
